The PLEA: Greetings from PLEA

The story of the postcard is the story of change : change in communication technology and change in social norms. Greetings from PLEA tells this story, from the postcard’s birth and rapid spread in the 1800s, to how postcards became a means—especially in Britain—for sharing risqué jokes and pictures in the 1900s, to how the law surrounding postcards adapted to changing times. Greetings from PLEA helps Saskatchewan Media Studies 20 teachers fulfil curriculum indicator MS 20.1, “Investigate the history of mass media and its role in society.”
